The City of Laconia received $500,000 in CDBG Housing funds in order to subgrant $479,551 to the Laconia Area Community Land Trust (LACLT) to develop the Mill View Family Housing Project. The project removed an empty commercial/industrial building that was an eyesore, uninhabitable, and potentially dangerous. It was replaced with 18 units of new, affordable family housing, including 5 one-bedroom, 4 three-bedroom, and 9 two-bedroom units.

Initially the rents will be at 80% of HUD Fair Market Rent or lower for at least 20 years because 100% of the beneficiaries are low to moderate-income people. The $3.25 million dollar project is located in downtown Laconia, within easy walking distance to municipal services. The CDBG investment in this project was 15% of the total cost.
