Families In Transition (FIT) is a nonprofit agency, headquartered in Manchester and Concord, that provides transitional housing and supportive services to homeless single women with and without children. The mission of FIT is to provide safe affordable housing and comprehensive social services to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, enabling them to gain self-sufficiency and respect.

Using the $585,000 grants from CDBG and CDIP, FIT enlarged its capacity to provide transitional housing by expanding into Concord and increasing the number of units available from 44 to 60. These units offer affordable transitional housing and intensive supportive services to homeless single women. The $285,000 CDBG Public Facility grant was awarded to Merrimack County in order to subgrant FIT $265,000.

FIT Concord consists of two buildings, called Bicentennial Square, that contain 2 – one bedroom units, 14 – two bedroom units, a computer lab, community meeting room, children’s room, and supportive service space. Women are provided with safe affordable housing and wrap-around services for up to 18 months. All FIT clients are low to moderate income people.
